The Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize aims to promote and reward excellence and talent in current drawing practice in the United Kingdom. Please read the Rules & Guidelines carefully as you will be asked to acknowledge acceptance of them during the online registration process.

Only drawings made since January 2022 are eligible for entry.

All work submitted must be available from the date of submission in 2023 and for the duration of the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2023 exhibition and tour, 2023-2024.

Once registered for entry, no refunds, part or whole will be offered. The applicant is responsible for ensuring their work meets the following criteria:

• Work should not exceed 4min any dimension when framed.
• Composite drawings should be presented within one frame
• All projections (including mirror plates, d-rings and picture wire) MUST be removed from frames before submission in order to protect other works.
• Works that cannot be mirror plated must be accompanied by full installation instructions and, if selected, the artist may be required to provide suitable fixings.
• You will be asked to confirm that your drawing is your own original work on registration, and it may also be authenticated (i.e.: signed and dated in an appropriate place on the work by the applicant – on the reverse of the drawing or on the back of the frame is acceptable.
• Frames MUST be durable for handling and hanging purposes throughout the selection process, exhibition and tour. Perspex frames should be submitted in a packing case for protection during transportation and storage. Please note that clip-framed glass or metal frames are ineligible, as they are dangerous for our handling team.
• Any unframed works submitted for consideration by the Selection Panel must be provided with adequate protective packaging and clear handling instructions for the selection process, exhibition and national tour.
• Any work presented unframed must be in suitable packaging e.g. a poster tube with a removable cap or in a portfolio, portfolio sleeve, or a packing case (as appropriate).
• It is the entrant’s responsibility to organise and pay for all shipping to their chosen Collection Centre and to declare the artwork on an international postage customs declaration form and pay any customs costs your country may impose. This also applies to return shipping.

The utmost care will be taken of all work submitted for selection, however the organisers of the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize shall have no liability for any loss or damage caused to work during the selection process, whether such damage is caused by the organisers, their team of staff or otherwise. Works entered are not insured during the selection process and entrants are strongly advised to arrange their own insurance for works entered.

All work selected for the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize will be insured from 5pm on 20 July 2023. Selected works will be insured to the value as indicated by the entrant in either the Sale Price or Insurance Value section on the Work Submission Form at the time of submission. If no value is entered in either of these sections on the Work Submission Form then the value of the work will be deemed to be nil. In the unlikely event of any claim on insurance being made, independent and verifiable insurance valuations will need to be provided.

Applicants are required to provide reusable packing cases to protect fragile or delicate works during the selection process, exhibition and national tour. The packaging for these works must be able to be resealed without the use of tape. Any rolled drawings entered must be submitted in a cardboard tube with a removable/replaceable cap.

For the protection of delicate frame surfaces, please stretch film wrap around the frame.

The Project Manager of the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize reserves the right to refuse entry at any Collection Centre should the work be deemed too fragile for submission and/or handling or that the work has inadequate packaging or is too heavy for normal handling. However, acceptance of the work does not constitute responsibility for the work by the organisers of the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize.

If particular handling or display instructions are required, please print these clearly and attach to the outside of packaged work, and also attach a copy of these to the Work Submission Form.

If a fragile or unframed work is selected for exhibition, the applicant may be required to provide additional packaging, framing or other means to enable the work to be stored, presented and transported safely throughout the exhibition and exhibition tour.

All entrants will be informed by email of the Selection Panel decision by Thursday 20 July 2023. The email will be from: tbwdp@parkerharris.co.uk. Subsequently, names and drawing titles of those selected for exhibition will appear in the ‘General Info’ section of this website at this time.

If no email notification has been received by Thursday 20 July 2023, or your name does not appear on the list of those with selected drawings on this website, your work has not been selected and will therefore need to be collected. The decision of the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2023 Selection Panel is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.

Works submitted to the Stage 2 Selection Process for International Entries may not be selected for the final exhibition by the Selection Panel. If your work is not selected the following arrangements apply for the collection of unselected works from the Collection Centres within the UK.

Unselected works for London Collection will be available for collection by applicants from Trinity Buoy Wharf on Friday 21 July and Saturday 22 July from 10am to 4pm.

Works not collected on the collection days for the London Collection Centre will be moved to storage at Art Moves of Chelsea, Chelsea Self Storage, Blantyre Street, London, SW10 0EQ. This will incur a charge of £50 per work. Works will then be available to collect by appointment only. Work not collected by 31 August will be disposed of. Please note that storage beyond the stated collection dates is NOT AVAILABLE at any of the Regional Collection Centres and, therefore any uncollected work will be disposed of by the Collection Centre.

All unselected work will be returned to the Collection Centre chosen at the time of registration. It is not possible to change your Collection Centre after 5pm on 5 June 2023.

Standard copyright practice must be adhered to by the entrant. Under the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 it is the general rule that, in the absence of any agreement to the contrary, copyright of a work of art/drawing will belong to the artist/drawing practitioner at the time of entry. By submitting their work, the artist/drawing practitioner grants the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize project permission to photograph and/or film the submitted works for press and marketing purposes, including the right to free reproduction in the exhibition publication, posters, websites and or other non-commercial promotional material in connection with the exhibition and wider project.

The organisers of the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize and the Project Manager hold personal data provided by entrants for the exhibition each year. This information will be used solely in conjunction with your entry for the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize. If your work is accepted for the exhibition your personal data will be transferred to an archive for the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize. Data pertaining to those whose work is not selected will be held for up to 12 months, after which this information will be destroyed. In registering, entrants agree that if selected for the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize their contact details will be retained by the organisers of the Trinity Buoy Wharf and these may be added to the mailing lists for the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize, from which is it possible to unsubscribe at any time.

For the purpose of the Work Submission Form the sale price should include 50% commission. If your work is accepted for the exhibition the Project Manager will confirm the sale price(s) and any applicable VAT with you. Please state the value of the work for insurance purposes if the work is not for sale. Please note that all insurance values stated need to be verifiable.
